Published in FilGoal on 16 - 10 - 2012

2005
2-0 vs. Zamalek (Egypt) Second leg
Barakat 62' 74'
This time both legs took place in Cairo as it was a special semi-final clash against perennial rivals Zamalek, who were going through one of their worst-ever runs.
Ahli were firm favorites and claimed a 2-1 away-win in the first leg with goals from Emad Meteb and Mohamed Barakat, who hit a brace in the one-sided return game.
The Reds went on to win the title with a thumping 3-0 victory over Etoile Sahel in the final.

2006
2-0 vs. ASEC (Ivory Coast) First leg
Abou-Treika 25' Meteb 38'
A comfortable win seemed to be on the cards but Ahli's second-half performance has hardly been assuring, which meant they settled for a 2-0 first-leg win.
Manuel Jose's side were saved though by an away goal from Angolan ace Flavio in the return game in Abidjan, with the home side winning 2-1.
The memorable final win over Sfaxien of Tunisia followed, courtesy of the historic Abou-Treika volley in Rades.

2007
1-0 vs. Ittihad (Libya) Second leg
Al-Hammadi (own goal) 22'
The Egyptian champions managed to hold on for a clean sheet in Tripoli, before edging the second leg 1-0 in Cairo, thanks to a first-half own goal.
Ahli relinquished their title to Tunisia's Etoile Sahel in the final though, losing 3-1 in Cairo.
2008
1-0 vs. Enyimba (Nigeria) Second leg
Flavio 25'
A vital goalless draw in Aba left Ahli with the task of winning in Cairo and it was the notorious Gilberto-Flavio combination that sent the Reds to the final.
In the final, Jose's men regained their title by beating Cotonsport of Cameroon.
Ahli 1-0 Enyimba
2010
2-1 vs. Esperance (Tunisia) First leg
Fathi 38', Fadl 68' – Darragi 73'
It was the first leg and everything was going well for the Reds as Mohamed Fadl and Ahmed Fathi scoring at Cairo Stadium, although there was a clear handball suspicion in the first one.
However, a 73rd minute goal from Esperance captain and star man Oussama Darragi changed everything and gave the Tunisians crucial lifeline.
The comeback was complete in Tunis, thanks to an infamous handball winner scored by Michael Eneramo.
Ahli 2-1 Esperance
