The Egyptian FA issued an official statement confirming the postponement of the Egyptian Premier League kick off. Following a meeting of the newly-elected board, the FA said that the league kickoff - initially scheduled for October 17 – will be delayed again as security forces have yet to give the green light. A board member said on Sunday that a two-week delay is inevitable; even so the association said the postponement is indefinite. The decision comes amid pressure from Ahli's ultras to put back the new season for a while, until a judicial verdict is made against the culprits of the Port-Said case. The future of Egyptian football is now under more scrutiny as domestic action has been disrupted since the calamitous February 1 incident.
