New Zamalek manager Jorvan Vieira pledged to build a new generation of players as he looks forward to making the most of the club's young talents. The Brazilian tactician was appointed as manager few days ago, taking over the team following the departure of Hassan Shehata. Despite the Whites' barren run of late - that saw them languish at the bottom of their Champions League group - Vieira seems upbeat of making tangible improvement at the crisis-hit outfit. "I'll work on making the most of the young talents within the club's ranks; youth just need patience to flourish. I want to build a new Zamalek generation",Vieira told reporters on Sunday. "I won't just rely on stars and big names; effort exerted and performance are the main criteria for selection in games. "I hope everyone would help me in my job to steer the team to the winning podium. This phase is so critical given the uncertain future of the domestic league. "Zamalek are a big club that's why I accepted an offer to manage the team as I'm ready to bear any pressure here. "Egyptians love football, that's a factor that motivates and excites me as well even though I'm ahead of a tough task." It remains to be seen whether football activity would recommence following the Ministry of Interior's decision to continue suspension of domestic action a month ago. Zamalek, who are on nil points from three games, take on Mazembe in Cairo on August 19 and are all but out of the Champions League.
