A Zamalek contingent has given their team a ‘dubious reception' following their arrival from DR Congo at Cairo airport on Sunday, according to the club's official website. The Zamalek team, who have just been defeated 2-0 at Mazembe to virtually end their Champions League semi-final hopes, were received by a number of angry fans upon their return home. The Cairo club said that squad members ‘were astonished to see a number of supporters pouring their rage on players and insulting them in a controversial manner'. While condemning such reaction from fans, Zamalek added that ‘the incident was dubious given that the club's die-hard fans are renowned for backing the team in bleakest conditions'. As the Whites had been suffering a barren run that saw them win a single trophy - the Egypt Cup - in seven years, it is believed that Zamalek supporters have hardly become tolerant to any further debacles. The Whites have lost all their quarter-final games so far, a setback that saw them languish at the bottom of Group B on nil points.
