Egypt have secured another Olympic medal as wrestler Karam Gaber won silver in the Greco-Roman competition. The Athens 2004 gold medalist outclassed three European opponents on Monday before losing in the final against Russia's Alan Khugaev. Gaber, 32, beat Nenad Zugaj of Croatia, Melonin Noumonvi of France and Damian Janikowski of Poland to earn his place in the final. He competed in the 84kg weight, eight years after claiming the 96kg gold medal in Athens. Prior to Gaber's feat, Egypt had only won one medal at the London Olympics thanks to fencer Alaa El-Din Abouelkassem who claimed silver in the men's individual foil. He becomes the most successful Egyptian athlete in the history of the Olympics with two medals to his name. Former diver Farid Simaika won silver and bronze in Amsterdam 1928, while weightlifter Ibrahim Shams won gold and bronze in two different finals.
