A controversial penalty converted by Mohamed Abou-Treika helped Egypt labor to a 2-1 friendly win over a fringe Cameroon side in Omdurman. A rare goal by Ahmed Elmohamady gave Egypt the lead but Cameroon equalized from the spot on 75 minutes. Substitute Basem Ali came on to win a dubious penalty that was slotted home by the in-form Treika, who also came off the bench earlier. It was the first of three warm-up games for Egypt in Sudan, with Bob Bradley's men preparing for the World Cup qualifier against Mozambique on June 1. Cameroon played with a reserve team of home-based players as the Indomitable Lions also gear up for a crucial game with DR Congo next month. While the likes of Abou-Treika, Hossam Ghaly and Mohamed Abdul-Shafi featured for Egypt, it was clear that Cameroon were playing with a junior team. Head coach Denis Lavagne was not even on the bench at Merreikh Stadium. The low-profile game marked the international debut of England-based defender Adam Al-Abd, who came on to replace Mahmoud Fathallah at half time. Elmo header The first goal came three minutes before the break when Sunderland full-back Elmohamady headed home Mohamed Salah's freekick for only his second-ever international goal. The scoreline seemed to be settled amid a fairly poor display from both teams, until Egypt midfielder Ibrahim Salah allowed Cameroon to equalize with a double error. The Zamalek midfielder gave away possession cheaply before handling the ball inside the six-yard box, gifting Cameroon a penalty that was successfully converted. With 11 minutes remaining, substitute Ali was allegedly shoved by the opposition keeper, allowing Treika to hit a trade-mark penalty with aplomb.
