Egypt coach Bob Bradley selected 27 players for the training camp in Sudan, including the likes of Mohamed Abou-Treika and Amr Zaki and overlooking skipper Ahmed Hassan. The Egypt squad will fly to Khartoum this week as the team are set to play a couple of friendly games against African minnows Uganda and Chad during the one-week camp. After choosing a relatively-fringe squad for the recent trip to Doha, American coach Bradley named 11 players from Ahli and Zamalek this time. A significant inclusion was the rare presence of Ahli midfielder Hossam Ashour, who only played once for Egypt despite being a regular for the Cairo giants for over eight years. However, another surprise decision was the exclusion of captain Hassan, who became the world's most-capped player of all time after making his 180th appearance against Niger last month. There was also no place for Zamalek captain Abdul-Wahed Al-Sayed, even though Essam Al-Hadari and Ahmed Al-Shennawi are the only two goalkeepers on board.
No place for skipper Hassan Foreign-based duo Mohamed Zidan and Ahmed Elmohamady have club commitments, while Ahli's defense stalwart Wael Gomaa is out with injury, as well as striker Emad Meteb.
