Mamdouh Abbas is set to return to Zamalek's helm after reaching settlement with former foe and presidency rival Mortada Mansour, the Cairo club announced. Zamalek said that a verdict by the court of law ended the dispute between the former club presidents as Abbas' board is expected to resume its duties within a few days. Abbas was sacked by the Supreme Council of Sport in September 2010, following a successful appeal by Mansour against the legitimacy of his victory in the presidential elections two years ago. Galal Ibrahim took charge of the club on a temporary basis as Abbas lodged an appeal against the decision of his sacking, before patching things up with renowned attorney Mansour. The return of Abbas - a wealthy businessman - is likely to be welcomed by Zamalek patrons as the club had been suffering a severe financial crisis during Ibrahim's reign.
