Ultras Ahlawy fan group issued a statement on their official Facebook page stating they would be attending Wednesday's cup game against ENPPI, but will not be cheering their side. The controversial announcement comes in the wake of detaining a number of the ultras members, following gory clashes with police in this month's cup game with Kima Aswan. Ahli clash with ENPPI in the Egyptian Cup round of 16; an encounter deemed crucial for the Reds who are looking forward to hit their stride once again following their disappointing Champions League exit. “We will not be cheering our team as usual in today's game in solidarity with our brothers confined in custody,” the statement read. “Those who criticize our decision, would never be supporting Ahli if they spent one night in prison. They released a stern warning for their members who will not comply with their decision stressing that 'a supporter's freedom is much more important than a million trophies'. The firm action of the ardent fans intends to pile up pressure on Ahli officials in order to intervene to release their cohorts indicted on subversion charges.
