Ahli made one superb fightback to topple their arch-rivals Zamalek and retain the Egyptian Premier League title this season. The Reds overturned a six-point trailing to bring home a 36th title to the club's trophy cabin, ending competition seven points ahead of the Whites. The huge comeback was comprised of a number of hard-earned results throughout the competition, which was never an walk in the park for the holders. Significantly, Ahli came back from behind 11 times en route to a sixth straight triumph, going on a 20-match unbeaten run. Masri at home Masri have last beaten Ahli in Cairo in 2001 but the Port-Said club were in front after 10 minutes with a strike from Senegalese striker Abdoulaye Cisse. Surprisingly, Masri remained in charge of the game and were even close to doubling their lead but a maiden goal for summer signing Geddo saved the day for Hossam Al-Badri's team, despite a suspicion of offside. Late victory at Production The league leaders were stunned by a brilliant header from former youngster Mohamed Abd-Rabou ‘Felix', but Mohamed Fadl replied with a finer strike just seven minutes later; one of the goals of the season. The winning goal was also special; an overhead kick from talisman Mohamed Abou-Treika only five minutes from time. Barakat kills off ENPPI Sherif Abdul-Fadil's fifth-minute fluke was canceled out by Ahmed Abdul-Zaher ten minutes later as Islam Awad put the visitors in the front seat on 70 minutes. Once again Geddo came to the rescue four minutes later, before Mohamed Barakat saved the day for the under-fire Al-Badri with a dramatic winner in the third minute of injury time. Shehab denies Gouna Another former ex-Ahli was there to haunt his old club as Sherif Ashraf gave Gouna a fourth-minute lead in a game that was dominated by the home side in Hurghada. But midfielder Shehab Ahmed came off the bench to score a wonderful solo goal and salvage the point for Ahli. Smouha in Alexandria It was the first game for interim manager Zizo and the champions had more than 10 players on the sidelines, encouraging lowly Smouha to go for a win with a fine solo strike from Godwin Attram. But an instinctive header from Abou-Treika denied the newly-promoted side from claiming an historic victory over the African masters. Treika downs Hodoud Not for the first time this season, Ahli conceded before the break and this time it was Harras Hodoud's Senegalese forward Pape Latyr N'Diaye who caused the upset. But the champions came back roaring after the break, thanks to two goals from the in-form Abou-Treika, who handed Zizo his first win with the team. Last-gasp Shokri Defying all odds and against the run of play, Arab Contractors found themselves in front with a soft goal from the promising Mohamed Salah. Ahli tried everything to equalize but their attempts came to no avail, until the point was saved with a fluke goal from substitute Ahmed Shokri. Shabana's contribution Ahli looked closer than ever to suffering their first defeat under Jose when they conceded a 90th minute penalty from Military Production's Gomaa Mashhour. But outcast midfielder Abdul-Hamid Shabana came up with almost his only contribution since joining Ahli, heading home a 94th minute equalizer to save the day for Jose's team. ENPPI again Once again, Ahli were stunned by ENPPI when former Zamalek captain Mohamed Aboul-Ella silenced Cairo Stadium with an unstoppable volley before the break. However, Mauritanian striker Dominique da Silva came off the bench at half time to make the difference with a goal and an assist to Emad Meteb's winner. Derby thriller Ahli faced all kinds of trouble during a nervy first-half against Zamalek, with Abdul-Fadil scoring an early own goal to give the Whites a sixth-minute lead. Geddo equalized but Zamalek were too resilient to end the first half on level terms as Hussein Yasser was there to punish his old club for the third time in four matches. Like last season, a victory for Zamalek could have blown the title race wide open, but Dominique hit the crucial equalizer in a tense second half to give Ahli a precious draw. The ultimate fightback For the second time, Ahli found themselves behind against relegation-bound Smouha, who were once again inspired by a brace from Ghanaian midfielder Godwin Attram. It was the first time since the 3-1 defeat at Ismaili that the Reds have conceded twice in a row as their 18-match unbeaten run looked in serious jeopardy. Out-of-favor striker Osama Hosni came off the bench to pull one back 11 minutes from time, before a rare strike from defender Ahmed Al-Sayed in the seventh minute of stoppage time sealed another dramatic draw for the champs.
