Borussia Dortmund signed Croatia forward Ivan Perisic from Belgium's Club Brugge, a deal that could well instigate the exit of Egypt's Mohamed Zidan from Signal Iduna Park. Early this month, Zidan said – shortly after becoming a German citizen by naturalization – that he might not carry on his career with the Bundesliga side. The 29-year-old, who's targeted by Cairo giants Ahli, cited lack of first-team football as a reason to consider a new move. Twenty-two-year-old Perisic, who was named the best Belgian Jupiler League player in the 2010-2011 season, joined Dortmund on a five-year deal. He fills the same position of Zidan, which further cast doubt over the latter player's future with Dortmund. Zidan's campaign this term was largely affected by a long-standing knee injury sustained last year.
