Ibrahim Saied will not be joining Canadian side Toronto after failing to reach an agreement with them over financial matters. The Egyptian defender participated in three pre-season friendlies with Toronto as he hoped to earn a move before the Major League Soccer gets underway later this month. However, Toronto's refusal to pay compensation to Saied's former club Ismaili has led to the deal being cancelled, according to the player's agent Haitham Orabi. "Toronto coach wanted to sign Saied but there was no financial agreement," Orabi told FilGoal.com on Sunday. "They reached an agreement over his annual salary but the club said they would not pay the due compensation to Ismaili." Saied unilaterally terminated his contract with Ismaili last term before joining Libyan side Ahli in the close season. The Egyptian FA consequently ordered the controversial defender, who never lived up to his potential due to some childish acts, to pay $150,000 to the Dervishes. He paid $100,000 of that amount, with the remaining $50,000 due to be paid at the end of the season. Orabi said the former Ahli, Zamalek and Ismaili man still has a chance of joining an American club, but declined to disclose its name. "Saied will remain in the United States until the end of March, because there is an American club who are interested in signing him."
