Ibrahim Saied boycotts Ittihad's training, assails Cabral
Published in FilGoal on 03 - 09 - 2010

Quick-tempered defender Ibrahim Saied says he has boycotted Ittihad's training and will not return to the Alexandrian club as long as Brazilian boss Carlos Cabral is at their helm.
Saied, who had joined Ittihad on a free transfer in June, featured for the coastal side's Egyptian Premier League opener against MCDR but fell down the pecking order afterwards.
The 30-year-old was angered because he wasn't told why he has been kept on the fringes over the past three matches.
"My relation with Ittihad has been severed and won't be restored with Cabral filling the head coach job," he told FilGoal.com.
"I took no part in Thursday's session and won't be back to Ittihad till this situation is sorted out. I will be training with some team in Cairo these days to maintain my fitness.
"I was patient for a long time with what's happening and refused to say anything out of respect for Ittihad's fans and board.
"But the way I was persistently ignored caused me a psychological problem.
"Cabral earlier lauded my level of performance so I don't really know why he's keeping me on the sidelines."
Throughout his career, Saied has been mostly renowned for his controversial statements and reputation as a troublemaker.
His attitude, which is perceived to be off-limits by many people, has cost him dearly over the past years and clearly he hasn't changed a bit.
Fun
"Oddly enough, every time I asked Ittihad's board members about the reason why Cabral is shunning me, they told me that he has a strong personality," Saied said.
"Since when has he had a strong personality? Don't they remember his days with Zamalek?!
"I'm quite sure that Cabral is in Alexandria only to have fun."
Saied has been anything but settled since leaving Ahli in 2003, having played for Zamalek, Rizespor and Ankaragucu before joining Ismaili in 2008.
The versatile player failed to impress in Ismailia and rescinded his contract with the Dervishes last year to join Ahli Tripoli.
However, the former Egypt man left the Libyan club last term before his recent attempt to join Canadian side Toronto turned unsuccessful.
