Birmingham manager Alex McLeish gave Mido special credit before his side take on West Ham in the Premiership on Wednesday. McLeish said that his opposite number, Gianfranco Zola, was successful in the January transfer window, which might help West Ham escape relegation. "They have some terrific players. The business Zola did in January looks pretty good to me," McLeish said. "Ilan made an instant impact, Mido of course, we know him very well. He's a big, strong centre-forward and he will bring a bit of quality to them." Mido joined West Ham on loan after playing the first half of the season with Zamalek also on loan from Middlesbrough. He featured for the Hammers for the first time against Burnley and hit the woodwork in his side's 2-1 defeat last weekend.
