Bayern Munich extended their Bundesliga winning streak to seven matches upon battering Mainz 3-0 on Saturday. Daniel van Buyten opened the scoring two minutes from the hour mark, before Mario Gomez doubled the Bavarians' lead in the 79th minute. Arjen Robben completed the rout four minutes from time. Bayern keeper Hans-Joerg Butt could have broken the deadlock after 33 minutes but his penalty kick was blocked by Heinz Mueller. Thomas Tuchel's side provisionally moved to the league summit with 42 upon claiming all three points. Bayer Leverkusen will go two points clear on top should they beat Freiburg on Sunday.
