Cameroon came back from behind twice to draw 2-2 with Tunisia and set up a crunch African Cup of Nations quarter-final meeting with Egypt after finishing second in Group D. In a hectic finale to the tight group, Zambia defeated Gabon 2-1 in Benguela to level on four points with Cameroon and Gabon. With each team winning a game and losing another amongst each other, the head-to-head rule was dismissed, allowing Zambia and Cameroon to go through with higher goals-for records. The Zambians clinch top spot due to having the highest number of goals scored in the matches involving the three top teams. Defiant Lions In Lubango, Cameroon found themselves behind before the clock hit one minute when Amine Chermiti headed in past Carlos Kameni. The Tunisians were lucky not to finish the first half with ten men as forward Issam Jomaa and goalkeeper Aymen Mathlouthi were controversially cautioned. Jomaa was lucky to escape with a ferocious tackle on Alexander Song, while Mathlouthi should have been sent off after handling the ball outside the area, preventing a Cameroon goal.
Immediately after the break, Cameroon hitman Samuel Eto'o leveled the scoring with a deft finish from close range, following a fine team move. In the 64th minute, Cameroon's Aurelien Chedjou superbly lobbed his own keeper with a powerful header from 20 yards, restoring Tunisia's lead. But the defiant Lions drew level in less than a minute, thanks to an unstoppable drive from Landry N'Guemo. Tunisia, who played their best game in Angola, finished with ten men as defender Ammar Jemal saw red for recklessly pushing Mohamadou Idrissou. Too Late In Benguela, an 83rd minute strike from substitute Fabrice do Marcolino was too late for Gabon, who conceded for the first time in the tournament. Rainford Kalaba and James Chamanga scored either side of the interval to give the Chipolopolo top spot in the edgy group. Zambia face Group C runners-up Nigeria in the last eight phase.
