FIFA have opened disciplinary proceedings against the Egyptian FA after an attack on Algeria's bus during last Saturday's World Cup qualifier, the world governing body said on Thursday. "According to the official reports received by FIFA, on 12 November, there were incidents affecting the Algerian team on its way from the airport to the hotel," FIFA said on their website. "Consequently, disciplinary proceedings have been opened against the Egyptian Football Association. The FIFA Disciplinary Committee will decide on the case." Some Egyptian fans reportedly stoned Algeria's buses upon their arrival in Cairo to face the Pharaohs in a crucial tie on Saturday. Algeria said three of their players were consequently injured but the Egyptian FA insisted their opponents made up that story. Egyptian businesses in Algeria were ransacked few hours later and the matter further escalated after the Desert Foxes booked a place in the World Cup with a 1-0 victory over Egypt in Wednesday's playoff in Sudan. The jubilant Algeria fans attacked opposing supporters with knives, swords and blades to prompt a flurry of furious condemnations in Egypt. Earlier on Thursday, Egypt recalled its ambassador in Algeria for 'consultations', Nile News, a state-owned channel, said.
