Substitute Farag Shalabi scored twice as Petrojet claimed a 3-1 away victory over Ghazl Mahalla to end their three-match winless run in the Egyptian Premier League on Tuesday. The visitors took the lead five minutes before the break through a goal from Karim Zekri. Mahalla keeper Sameh Ali tipped a powerful free kick onto the crossbar and the central defender was the quickest to react to nod in. The hosts leveled the score just before the halftime whistle when Mohamed Al-Etrawi's curling free kick found the net. Left-back Shalabi, who was introduced in the second half instead of Osama Mohamed, restored Petrojet's advantage on 64 minutes when his powerful left-footed shot eluded the despairing dive of Ali. The former Zamalek man wrapped up the win two minutes later with a fortunate strike as his cross-come-shot deceived the hapless Ali. Petrojet, who aim to improve on their third-place finish last term, wasted several clear-cut opportunities to extend the gap. They are now level on 11 points with leaders Ahli, who can restore their three-point lead at the top if they beat Asyut Petroleum on Wednesday. Elsewhere, promoted Military Production continued their fine run in the top flight with a deserved 3-1 win over Arab Contractors. A brace from striker Hassan Mousa and a goal from Gomaa Mashour gave Tarek Yehia's side all three points as they moved into third spot on nine points.
