Bayern Munich boss Louis van Gaal admitted that Franck Ribery needs to work more on his fitness, in the wake of Tuesday's 3-0 win at Maccabi Haifa. The little Frenchman spent a long spell on the sidelines nursing an ankle injury before returning to action gradually in recent weeks. "In the second half, you could see Franck Ribéry was struggling with his fitness, but I knew he would," Van Gaal said after the game in Israel. "He needs to work his way back in the Bundesliga and in the Champions League." Van Gaal believes that his second-half changes were crucial in Bayern's victory as substitute Thomas Muller grabbed a late brace. "In the second half, we gave the ball away too often and we lost our shape a little. I corrected that with my substitutions, and we scored the goals," said the Dutchman.
