Middlesbrough midfielder Mohamed Shawky revealed that he would leave the English side in January. "I received several offers from European clubs, but the summer transfer window is now closed," he told Ahli's official site. "I'll probably accept one of those bids in the winter." The former Ahli man reiterated that he would like to keep pursuing his dream to carve out a name for himself in Europe. However, he stressed that if he would only join the Red Devils should he return to Egypt. "I'll only play for Ahli if I decide to get back home," Shawky added. The 27-year-old joined Middlesbrough in the summer of 2007, and failed to secure a regular spot over the past couple of seasons under the management of Garth Southgate. Shawky remains out of favor at the Riverside, even after Boro's relegation to the Championship last term.
