In Paolo Maldini's final game as a professional footballer, AC Milan beat Fiorentina 2-0 in the last round of this season's Italian Serie A. The win enforced Milan's third spot in the table, enabling the Rossoneri to automatically qualify for the UEFA Champions League group stage next season. Fiorentina will have to go through the Champions League qualifying phase, after the defeat left them fourth with 68 points, six behind Milan. Brazilian duo Kaka and Alexandre Pato scored their team's goals on 55 and 76 minutes. The Artemio Franchi audience gave Maldini a standing ovation near the end of what was his final game ever. Also in Italy, Serie A winners Inter Milan ended their season with a 4-3 win over Atalanta. Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored twice for Inter to finish as the league's top scorer with 25 goals. Esteban Cambiasso and Sulley Muntari scored the other two goals for Jose Mourinho's men. Atalanta's strikes came through Cristiano Doni and Luca Cigarini on 9, 25 and 55 minutes. The clash was also Luis Figo's last, as the Inter winger will be retiring from the game.
