AC Milan Captain Paolo Maldini has confirmed his decision to put an end to his 24-year long career with the Rossoneri. The 39-year old defender made his statement just a few minutes after winning the Club World Cup on Sunday, beating Boca Juniors 4-2 in the final. "It's wonderful because it's difficult to reach 39 years old at a great club such as Milan, a club that has always given me the possibility to play for important trophies," the Italian legend told Italian TV channel Mediaset Premium after the triumph. "Now, I feel really satisfied with what I've achieved. I have absolutely no regrets, I've done everything possible during my football career." Since making his debut in 1984, Maldini won the Champions League and European Cup five times, seven Serie A titles, one Italian Cup and the Club World Cup - and its predecessor the Intercontinental Cup - three times. He has also lots of records behind him including 126 caps with the Azzurri , playing in 170 European club matches and in 603 Serie A games. "I work hard, I've got a lot of pain, I still love playing but the pains are starting to surpass that joy," said Maldini who will turn 40 just a week after the end of the season and he promised that by that time he won't touch a ball.
