Ahli coach Manuel Jose scooped the Golden Globes award for best Portuguese manager by SIC TV network. The 63-year-old, who is set to take over as Angola coach, beat off competition from Porto boss Jesualdo Ferreira and Jorge Jesus of Sporting Braga. Jose missed out on the prestigious award in the last three years, but has finally claimed it in his fourth straight nomination. "Finally the award has come, it is the fourth time I am nominated!" said a smiling Jose at the ceremony in Lisbon. "I dedicate the award to my son and my wife, who has been here every year for me." Jose led Ahli to 18 different titles during his five-year reign with the Cairo giants. However, this year was the least successful for the veteran coach. Manchester United ace Cristiano Ronaldo was voted best player for the fourth successive year.
