Hamburg missed out on the chance of regaining their top place in the Bundesliga after a 3-1 home defeat to Wolfsburg. Striker Grafite grabbed the lead for Wolfsburg with a 12th-minute penalty. The Brazilian scored his second of the night in the 24th minute to double the lead, thanks to his powerful low shot from inside the area. Hamburg striker Paolo Guerrero pulled one back in the 73rd minute but Edin Dzeko killed off their hopes two minutes later. Dzeko tapped in into an empty net after being fed by a low cross from the left. Hamburg are second in the Bundesliga table with 42 points, one adrift of leaders Hertha Berlin. Holders Bayern Munich dropped to fifth place after being held to a goalless draw by 10-man Werder Bremen. Bremen had defender Naldo sent off after 15 minutes but they still managed to prevent Bayern, who have 39 points, from scoring.
