Bundesliga champions Wolfsburg succumbed to a humiliating 5-1 home defeat to rock-bottom side Hertha Berlin, as Schalke have missed out on the summit. A hat-trick from Greek striker Theofanis Gekas and a double from Adrian Ramos downed the Wolves at Volkswagen Arena, with last season's top scorer Grafite scoring a consolation goal. Despite the win, Hertha remained bottom with 18 points while Wolfsburg are 10th on 37. Elsewhere, Schalke failed to claim top spot after being held to a 2-2 draw at Hamburg. Ruud van Nistelrooy gave HSV a first-half lead, only for Kevin Kuranyi and Ivan Rakitic to fire Schalke in front, but Jonathan Pitroipa leveled the scoring 13 minutes from the end. Schalke remain second on 55 points, one behind leaders Bayern Munich, who saw their 19-match unbeaten run broken by Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday. Wolfsburg 1-5 Hertha Hamburg 2-2 Schalke
