Zamalek said on Friday they pulled the plug on Imad Zatara's deal, few hours after confirming that they signed him on a four-and-a-half year deal. Despite agreeing terms with the Palestinian playmaker, Zamalek failed to reach an agreement with his Swedish club Syrianska FC. "We couldn't complete his signing due to financial differences with Syrianska," Zamalek official Tarek Hashish told FilGoal.com. "We also can't find many vacant places in Zamalek squad because the players we wish to offload are yet to receive any offers." Striker Mostafa Gaafar was close to joining Police Union but the latter failed to meet Zamalek's asking price. Reports also suggest that Zamalek no longer want to keep hold of Brazilian full-back Ricardo Alves, who hasn't proven his worth since his summer arrival. The Cairo giants, who recently appointed Swiss Michel Decastel as their new coach, signed four players in the January transfer window so far. They brought in Mansoura duo Mohamed Al-Morsi and Ibrahim Salah as well as Sabri Rahil, who joined from second-division side MCSD. Zamalek also wrapped up the signing of Ivorian striker Olie Koffi Kan, who joined from Africa Sports on loan until the end of the season. The White Knights aim to bolster their squad in order to make up for their disappointing results in the first half of the season that saw their hopes of competing for the league title fade.
