Preview: Roma, Chelsea last unsecure powerhouses
Published in FilGoal on 08 - 12 - 2008

The UEFA Champions League last sixteen are to be all determined when the Group stage resumes on Tuesday, with only four berths in the knock-out stage still vacant.
Inter Milan, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Liverpool have made their way to the next round from the first four groups.
On the other hand, AS Roma, Chelsea, Panathinaikos and Sporting Lisbon seem close to booking the last four places in the next round.
Group A
The competition is fierce in Group A, as AS Roma, Chelsea and Bordeaux are still vying for qualification for the next round.
Italian giants Roma are tipped to make it to the Knock-out Stage, given that they are topping the Group with nine points, and most of their injured players have been fully recovered.
However, a tough clash is on the horizon for Luciano Spalletti's men against Bordeaux, who haven't entirely given up hope of making it through.
The French side lie third with seven points, and they would advance to the next round should they pull off a victory over the Italian outfit.
Second-placed Chelsea are also have a substantial chance to qualify for the Knock-out stage.
They are trailing Leaders Rome by one point, and facing CFR 1907 Cluj, who have been disqualified, seems to be a breeze.
Group B

Bremen's chances not high
Panathinaikos, Anorthosis Famagusta and Werder Bremen are aiming to secure a place in the Knock-out stage.
The latter, who lie third with four points, don't have much of a chance.
The German side would qualify only if they defeated Inter Milan by an incredibly large margin, and Panathinaikos slumped to defeat to Anorthosis Famagusta.
Group C
With Barcelona already through, only one ticket for the Knock-out stage remains bookable.
Sporting Lisbon, who lie second with nine points, are seemingly Group B shoo-ins.
The Portuguese outfit are taking on minnows FC Basel 1893, who have already been ousted after putting in below-par displays in the their Groups stage, having only amassed a sole point.
On the other hand, FC Shakhtar Donetsk could make it through should they defeat Spanish side Barcelona, and Lisbon lose to Basel.
Group D
With Atletico Madrid Liverpool already trough to the next round, there is no contention for qualification in Group D.
Marseille PSV Eindhoven, who have been ousted, facing the Spanish side and the Reds respectively.
