Ahli midfielder Hussein Yasser is tipped to join a Qatari team in the January transfer window, according to media reports. Al-Raya newspaper mentioned that the 24-year-old got fed up with his status as a substitute, which presumably caused his elimination from Qatar national team ahead of the upcoming 2010 World Cup qualifiers. The Qatari publication said the attacking midfielder could be recalled to Qatar should he move to a Qatari outfit and play regularly. It also revealed that Qatar's Al-Arabi were holding talks with the unsettled player for a while, but the deal fell through when the former landed Tunisia's Younes Mahmoud. Furthermore, some of the Qatari Football Association officials reportedly urged the former Rayan and Al-Sadd player to rejoin the Qatari League in order to regain a place in the national team. According to the report, either Al-Sadd or Qatar club could be the player's next destination. Yasser, who joined Ahli from Sporting Braga in the summer, admitted his dissatisfaction with lack of playing opportunities with the Cairo giants on more than one occasion. The versatile player is expected to make up his mind after the imminent FIFA Club World Cup.
