EURO 2008 Preview: Holland vs. Russia
Published in FilGoal on 21 - 06 - 2008

Guus Hiddink wants to be the 'traitor of the year' in Holland as he leads Russia against his native country in the quarter-finals of EURO 2008.
Russia bounced back from a catastrophic group stage start to claim a deserved last eight spot after impressively beating Sweden 2-0 three days ago.
On the other hand, the Oranje were undoubtedly the slickest team of the first round, following their vintage displays in the 'Group of death'.
The one and only encounter between the two sides came in the 1988 final, when current Holland coach Marco Van Basten scored one of the goals of the century to wrap-up a 2-0 victory over USSR.
Head-to-head:
Holland win: 1
Russia win: 0
Draw: 0
Holland
"We are satisfied up to now. But it is only the beginning and we have to play a few more games hopefully," said Van Basten.

The Oranje are at full-strength
"We saw Russia play very well against Sweden but we also saw the matches against Greece and Spain. So it is our task to play like the Spain team did.
Team News: Defender Khalid Boulahrouz should play despite the recent death of his prematurely-born daughter.
Edwin Van der Sar, Ruud Van Nistelrooy, Dirk Kuyt, Andre Ooijer and Giovanni Van Bronkhorst are expected to return after being rested in the 2-0 Romania win.
Probable Line-up: Van der Sar- Van Bronkhorst, Boulahrouz, Mathijsen, Ooijer- Engelaar, De Jong, Robben, , Sneijder, Kuyt- Van Nistelrooy.
Russia
"I want to be the traitor of the year in Holland," said Hiddink.
"I am scared as well, that's why I have to attack – if you drop back, you get even more scared. In recent months and weeks in Russia, we have tried to install the sort of play people love to watch.
"For Holland it is a brand, for Russia we had to impose it but we are on our way. Holland are far ahead in experience, in how to play a tournament."
Team News: Russia are at full-strength, with strike partners Andrei Arshavin and Roman Pavlyuchenko ready to take on the Dutch defense.
Probable Line-up: Akinfeev- Ignashevich, Kolodin, Anyukov- Semak, Semshov, Zyrianov, Zhirkov, Bilyaletdinov- Arshavin, Pavlyuchenko.
