Germany manager Joachim Low was praised his players following their 2-0 winning start against Poland on Sunday night. "The whole team, not just Lukas Podolski, played well," he said. "We desperately wanted to start with a victory and we can be happy with the result." The Bayern Munich striker struck twice to earn the Mannschaft their first EURO victory since beating Czech Republic 2-1 in the 1996 final. "We know Lukas is a very dangerous attacker for any goalkeeper, but Mario Gomez and Miroslav Klose helped him immensely." Low lined-up all the three strikers and Podolski was set up twice by Klose. The German coach also praised his defense as it had the upper hand against the Polish strikers. "I think from a tactical point of view our defence worked very well. We didn't make many defensive mistakes," he said.
