Roma have denied Inter Milan an Italian double as they beat the Serie A champions 2-1 in the Coppa Italia final on Saturday. The Giallorossi, who lost the Scudetto to Inter in the final day of the season, managed to avenge their league defeat and win the cup title for a second successive season. France defender Philip Mexes scored the opener after 36 minutes when he superbly converted David Pizarro's corner into the roof of the net. Nine minutes into the second half, Simone Perrotta doubled Roma's lead, finishing off a fine one-two move with Mirko Vucinic. Inter were back in the game after just six minutes when Portuguese youngster Pele hammered the Roma goal with a wonder strike. The 21-year-old controlled the ball before sending a 30-yard belter into the top left-corner of Doni's net, leaving the Brazilian guardian motionless. Inter coach Roberto Mancini, who already missed strikers Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Julio Cruz, has astonishingly left Hernan Crespo on the bench until stoppage time, but it was too late for the Argentine to ruin Roma's party.
