Roberto Mancini's hopes of bringing home a second Italian double have been jeopardized and the Coppa Italia specialist knows it. Title holders Inter Milan, who were recently crowned Serie A champions for the 15th time, were handed a smashing 6-2 defeat from rivals Roma in the first-leg of the Coppa Italia final on Wednesday. Mancini conceded that retaining the cup title, which Inter has won for the past two years, will be almost impossible. "We need a miracle," Mancini said in a post game conference. The Nerazzurri were practically out of the contest after conceding three goals in the first 15 minutes.
Mancini “Our first 15 minutes were just terrible, we were totally absent. We left Roma all the space they needed and let them do what they wanted to, especially down the flanks.” But Mancini did acknowledge that Roma, who handed his side their only Serie A defeat so far this season, were the better side. “Today you could really see the different motivation at work here and on that level we could not compare to Roma,” said the Italian tactician. Inter have an uphill task when they host the Giallorossi in the second-leg at the San Siro on May 17th, if they want to retain their title. “It seems very difficult to overturn, as to score four goals and not concede any is tricky. We'll see. At the very least we can avoid another embarrassing game like this,” added Mancini.
