Inter Milan announced that manager Roberto Mancini has signed a new contract with the Nerazzurri just hours after being declared Serie A champions. Inter's 2-1 victory at Siena and Roma's 2-1 defeat at Atalanta meant that Mancini's team has made it two on the trot with the Scudetto title. President Massimo Moratti confirmed that Mancini's stay at the Giuseppe Meazza has been a closed case since weeks ago, but he preferred to announce it later. "The contract renewal with Mancini happened a while back, that allowed us to be relaxed. It's a four years plus one deal," a jubilant Moratti told Sky Italia. The Italian billionaire revealed his willingness to extend Mancini's partnership with Inter to a longer period. "I hope that it can last even longer and I am optimistic on this issue. I don't think we're missing anything required to start a real era for the club. "The relation between the coach, players and club is good and we are on the right road." Inter have secured the Serie A title five weeks before the end, leading closest rivals Roma by 16 points. But the Nerazzurri were largely helped by the 9-point deduction suffered by arch rivals AC Milan for the infamous match-fixing scandal and the relegation of Serie A masters Juventus in the same process.
