Didier Drogba made an outrageous declaration of his 'dream' to play for AC Milan, just a few days before Chelsea's Champions League final clash with Manchester United. In a section of his autobiography published by the Sun, Drogba admitted that he made a secret flight to Milan in 2006 and held talks with the Serie A club officials. However, negotiations did not progress between Chelsea and Milan at the time, but the Ivorian hitman has reasserted his enthusiasm to play at San Siro. "All footballers dream of signing for AC Milan. I explained to Paolo Maldini that Milan is a club I would love to join," said the Chelsea striker. Drogba's autobiography included quotes from Milan vice-chairman Adriano Galliani saying: 'When would you like to play for Milan?' And Drogba replied: "Whenever you want, it's all up to you - get the money ready and go see Chelsea." Mourinho Row Drogba also revealed how angry his former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho was when he told him about his visit to Milan in August 2006.
Mourinho The Portuguese coach, who left Chelsea last year, understood that Drogba was having a dentist appointment in Paris. Drogba said: "Jose took the phone and put it on loudspeaker and said: ‘OK, seeing as we are not kids we are going to talk. ‘I trusted you — I've done everything for you and there you are telling me you're going to the dentist in Paris when in fact you're in Milan talking over your transfer. 'You lied to me. You didn't keep your word. Have you been badly brought up or what?'” Moreover, Drogba was relegated to play with Chelsea reserves on temporary basis after the conversation. However, the prolific striker seemed to have patched things up with Mourinho as he enjoyed a superb 2006-2007 season at Stamford Bridge, scoring 34 goals in all competitions. Drogba went on to build more rapport with his ex-boss, to the extent that he 'broke down in tears and had to be comforted by teammates as Mourinho walked out for the last time.'
