European champions AC Milan overwhelmed Argentina's Boca Juniors 4-2 to win the 2007 FIFA Club World Cup in Japan. FIFA World Player of the Year contender Kaka and Italy striker Filippo Inzaghi produced a genius performance to storm the Italians into victory. Kaka scored one, set up Inzaghi with two goals as Alessandro Nesta put his name on the scoresheet as well, while Rodrigo Palacio's header and Massimo Ambrosini's own goal were not enough for Boca. Inzaghi, who was the hero of the 2007 UEFA Champions League final with his brace against Liverpool, opened the scoring after 20 minutes with a close tap-in, following Kaka's slick pass. Boca equalized two minutes later when Palacio caught the Milan defense napping to level the scoring with a neat header. However, Nesta restored Milan's lead five minutes after the interval when he smashed in a 12-yard shot into the top corner of Mauricio Caranta's goal. Kaka made it three in the 62nd minute, finishing off a trade-mark solo move past Boca's Hugo Ibarra. Nine minutes later, the Brazilian wizard provided Inzaghi with his second of the night, and Super Pippo made no mistake to hit the net in a quite similar fashion to his opener. Boca got their consolation when Ambrosini deflected the ball into his own net five minutes from time, shortly after Milan's Kakha Kaladze saw a straight red for a late tackle on Ibarra. The Copa Libertadores champions also finished the game with a man down as Pablo Ledesma received his marching orders two minutes from the end.
