Bayern Munich defender Willy Sagnol surprisingly demanded leaving the club in January. The veteran Frenchman told Germany's ZDF TV that he submitted his request to the board a few weeks ago, without elaborating. Sagnol, 30, has been sidelined for seven months after undergoing an operation to fix a knee injury. In October, Sagnol said he is making progress and should be back with the Bavarians soon. But he made this dramatic U-turn without clear reasons.
