Emad Meteb ended his goal drought to notch four times and help Egypt thump Sudan 5-0 on Friday as the Pharaohs secured their second win in the Pan Arab Games on home soil. Ahmed Salama, who earned his first ever call-up to Egypt for the Arab Games, was also on the scoresheet to lead the hosts to a thrashing win. The five-time African champions, who eased past UAE 2-0 in the first match before thrashing Sudan, who fielded their Olympic team, are on top of the tournament with six points. Egypt needed just two minutes to open the scoring through Salama's header. Sayed Moawad's deflected cross found the Tersana frontman at the far post and he made no mistake from close range. Meteb broke his duck one minute later, scoring his first goal since Ahli's memorable 4-3 victory over arch-rivals Zamalek in the Egyptian Cup final.
Egypt players celebrate He extend Egypt's lead after his shot from Walid Soliman's cross bounced off the turf and went into the back of the net. Meteb almost added the third nine minutes before the break when he latched on to Hossam Ghaly's neat pass and went clear on goal but his low shot went wide. The 24-year-old made amends five minutes after re-start when he received Osama Mohamed's pinpoint cross from the left with a bouncing header into the net. Meteb heaped more misery on Sudan when he notched the fourth three minutes past the hour mark, connecting with another fine cross from Soliman to head home past the hapless keeper. Petrojet duo Mohamed and Soliman were impressive down the left flank. Their outstanding display could possibly earn them a call-up to Egypt squad for the African Cup of Nations. Meteb put the icing on the cake in the 77th minute when he superbly controlled a long ball inside the area before chipping the ball over the keeper.
