Cristiano Ronaldo scored in his 100th Premiership start on Saturday to give Manchester United a 1-0 victory over Birmingham. The Portuguese winger opened his domestic scoring account six minutes into the second period as United climbed to second spot. He scuffed the ball from Franck Queudrue before sidestepping Maik Taylor and slotting into an empty net. United now have 17 points, just two behind leaders Arsenal, who beat West Ham 1-0 earlier on the same day. But United lost veteran keeper Edwin van der Sar to injury and substitute Tomasz Kuszczak was introduced in the second-half. Alex Ferguson's side entertain Roma next week in the Champions League.
