Premiership title holders Chelsea beat hosts Arsenal 2-0 on Sunday to register their third victory over their London rivals this season. Dutch winger Arjen Robben broke the deadlock late in the first-half and English international midfielder Joe Cole sealed the victory midway through the second period. Chelsea's first victory in the Highbury since 1990 tightened the "Blues" grip on the summit on 46 points, leading second-place Manchester United with nine points while Arsenal, suffering their third league defeat, slumped to the eighth spot with 26. The visitors laid a siege to Arsenal's half-court since the starting whistle thanks to Frank Lampard, Cole and Robben who marshaled the midfield. However, Arsenal were the side who had the first chance in the 19th minute when Thierry Henry outpaced two Chelsea defenders and fired a low dink past Petr Cech but the Frenchman saw his effort blocked by the left post. Two minutes later, Robin van Persie was found unmarked behind the defense before he poked home but the goal was disallowed for offside. Robben put Chelsea ahead six minutes from the break when he raced down the left flank before cutting into the area and sending a low shot that hit the post and went in. In the 73rd minute, Cole sealed the victory as he stole the ball from the unbalanced Lauern, sidestepped Sol Campbell, and unleashed a powerful left-footer into the far post. In other match, Egyptian striker Ahmed Hossam "Mido" headed home late to give Tottenham a dramatic 3-3 draw with Middlesbrough. Robbie Keane, Jermaine Jenas were also on target for the Londoners while Yakubu, Franck Queudrue and James Morrison scored Middlesbrough goals. Tottenham are now fourth with 31 points and Middlesbrough remain 13th on 20 points.
