Veteran striker Hossam Hassan said he regrets joining Ittihad in the close season, revealing his intention to leave the Alexandria-based club in the January transfer window. The 41-year-old penned a one-year deal with Ittihad after he opted not to renew his contract with Tersana. However, he is now considering his options three matches into the Egyptian League after Ittihad failed to grab a single win. "When I joined Ittihad, I thought the club had an ambitious project this season but it seems that no one cares to help the team," Hassan told FilGoal.com. "The players are even very selfish; they don't help me at all during any match. Their attitude forces me to make much more efforts to score but such individual efforts are useless." Ittihad coach Mohamed Omar left Hassan out of the team's 2-0 defeat to Zamalek on Wednesday, saying that the former Egypt international was injured. However, the former Ahli and Zamalek star insisted he was fully fit to participate. "The technical staff is fully responsible for my exclusion because their claims that I was injured were completely untrue," he said. "They are also responsible for the team's poor results. I think changing the coach may help Ittihad regain their sharpness," he concluded. Omar has said recently that he would depart the club, with Mohamed Salah tipped to be his successor.
