Ahli registered youth team striker Sherif Ashraf in the club's squad for the upcoming season despite the player's link with arch rivals Zamalek. Ashraf signed a deal with Zamalek after his three-year contract at Ahli expired in July, but the Reds Devils claimed that the 20-year old has signed documents which make him under the club's command. However, the player ensured that his contract with Zamalek is valid and that Ahli are just trying to hamper the transfer. Ashraf has been Ahli youth team's top scorer throughout the last three seasons, but the promising striker opted the Zamalek move in order to play first-team football.
