Ivan Helguera signed a three-year-contract with Valencia to leave his place at Real Madrid after spending eight seasons at the Santiago Bernabeu. The club's official website unveiled the former Spain international who became out of favor at the Merengues. The 32-year-old defender had been released by Real Madrid as coach Bernd Schuster revealed he is in no need of him especially after the arrival of centre-backs Pepe and Christoph Metzelder. Helguera had a medical at the Mestalla Stadium on Friday morning and is set to join his new teammates immediately.
