At the Royal Athletic Park, Japan needed an Atomu Tanaka's strike eight minutes past the hour mark to grab a 1-0 victory over Costa Rica. Nigeria's Ezekiel Bala notched a brace to give the Super Eagles a 2-0 win over Scotland. Bala broke the deadlock four minutes after re-start before sealing the victory with a 78th-minute strike. Nigeria and Japan are joint leaders in Group F with six points after two matches while Scotland and Costa Rica remain pointless. In Group B, Jordan suffered a 1-0 defeat to Uruguay while Spain edged past Zambia 2-1. Spain and Uruguay share the first spot with four points each while Zambia and Jordan lie third and fourth respectively with just one point.
