Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has admitted he clashed with the club's owner Roman Abramovich after the latter rejected his request to sign new players during the January transfer window. The English champions were hit by a succession of injuries and suffered from lack of defensive options which affected their run for a third successive Premiership title. "I admit that there were differences with Abramovich over not signing players in January," Mourinho was quoted by Sky Sports as saying to Portuguese newspaper Correio da Manha on Saturday. The Portuguese tactician has said the Russian Tycoon's rejection of making new transfers motivated him for further success.
Abramovic "The team was stretched to the limit and needed new players, but that was a challenge and an extra motivation for me," he said. Mourinho has also spoken about his future at the Blues' helm, signaling he has no intention to quit his position before his contract expires. "I want to continue my deal with Chelsea until it finishes in 2010," he affirmed. "I have said that any coach would like to be at Chelsea and some people might have been interested in me leaving, but my decision to stay on is total."
