Argentine striker Hernan Crespo said that he will not be extending his current contract with Chelsea Sky Sports reported. The 30-year-old international, whose contract with Chelsea runs until 2008, said that he would prefer a move back to Italy. "I have two years left on my contract and everybody knows my intention is to return to Italy," Crespo told The News of the World on Sunday. Crespo, who arrived at Stamford Bridge from Inter Milan in 2003, sat with Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich who offered him a contract extension. "When I spoke with Roman Abramovich, he couldn't understand my feelings.
Crespo turned down Roman Abramovich himself "He said 'How can it be?' The fans want you - Jose Mourinho, too. I'm offering to extend your contract and you want to go'," the Argentinean international explained. Crespo has been tipped to part ways with the Premiership champions following the signing of former AC Milan teammate Andrei Shevchenko last week. The former Parma and Lazio ace had a rough time since joining Chelsea. His first season was disrupted with injuries before being loaned to AC Milan in his second season where he had a successful campaign. Crespo returned to Stamford Bridge last season where he was playing second fiddle to Didier Drogba whom he will go head-to-head with when their teams lock heads in the World Cup finals in Germany on June 10th.
