Zamalek are interested in signing Ghazl Mahalla defender Mahmoud Fathallah in the January transfer window to reinforce their shaky back-line. A Zamalek official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told FilGoal.com on Thursday that the Cairo giants asked Mahalla to reveal their financial demands in order to complete the deal. Fathallah has already agreed to join Zamalek but the latter are waiting for Mahalla's approval, the unnamed official added. The 25-year-old defender impressed in the heart of Mahalla's defense this season, playing a pivotal role in helping his side occupy fourth place in the Egyptian League. Meanwhile, Zamalek defender Amr Al-Safti will miss his side's Arab Champions League (ACL) clash against Ahli Jeddah on Sunday after collecting three yellow cards. Striker Amr Zaki is also doubtful due to injury. Zamalek have to win in order to revive their hopes of advancing to the ACL semis as they lie at the bottom of Group A with just one point after two matches, three adrift of leaders Algeria's Ahli Bordj.
