Zamalek have announced on Monday that they have closed the door on any possible move for in-form striker Amr Zaki. Although the Cairo club has previously agreed to let Zaki undergo a trial period with Sheffield United, chairman Mamdouh Abbas changed his mind following the recent impressive displays by the Egypt international striker. Zaki scored four goals in the last four games in the Egyptian League and the Arab Champions League (ACL) to help his side maintain their hopes in both titles. After '4 Steps' Player Management Company proposed an initial offer for the services of Zaki on behalf of Sheffield, Zamalek turned down their request and demanded a direct contact with the interested club. The company then came up with an official bid from Sheffield worth 2 million sterling pounds ($3.8 million) and Zamalek's board allowed him to leave for trial and medical with the Premiership side. However, after holding a meeting on Monday, the board decided to keep the influential striker at the club.
4 Steps representative Mohamed Hamid was left fuming with Zamalek's announcement. "I don't know who will benefit from Zamalek's weird situation, which is more important: to win a local title or to have a strong national team composed of Europe-based players?" Hamid told FilGoal.com "They kept on promising us to complete the deal but they didn't," he wondered. Hamid has also called on the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) officials to intervene in order to 'save the Egyptian football future'. On the contrary to Zaki's situation, defender Ibrahim Saied will have the chance to have a trial period with Sheffield. The former Ahli player received also an offer from Sheffield worth 200,000 Sterling Pounds and he will fly to England either on December 16th, 17th or 18th. Zamalek pull out of Tizie deal
