Mohamed Zidan said Werder Bremen are optimistic ahead of their UEFA Champions League campaign although he admitted that his German side play in the most difficult group of the tournament. Bremen visit Premiership champions Chelsea on Tuesday in the opener of tough Group A that also includes title holders Barcelona and Levski Sofia. "With Barcelona and Chelsea around, it is the group of death no doubt," the Egyptian international said prior the game. "Bremen also is the second pole of the Bundesliga and one of the best teams worldwide. Yet, we are not as vocal as the duo is." Zidan is tipped to start the game alongside Croatia's Ivan Klasnic with Germany and World Cup top scorer Miroslav Klose doubtful for the game through injury. Bremen were drawn with Barcelona in Group C last season. They lost home and away to the eventual champions but advanced second from the group.
Bremen Then they were ousted from the round of 16 on the away goal rule after tying Juventus to a 4-4 aggregate draw. Although Zidan believes that Bremen can at least register a similar result in the group stage, he is still ready for a worse scenario. "If we managed to do our best throughout the six matches, we will be able to snatch at least the second ticket of the group," the 25-year-old striker said. "But even if we couldn't, Bremen will be third, a spot that qualifies to the UEFA Cup. "It is definitely less important than the Champions League, but has its own glamour." Zidan featured only three times for Bremen this season and scored only once in the league cup.
