Chelsea midfielder Michael Ballack warned his teammates of Werder Bremen ahead of their Champions League tie on Tuesday, stressing that they can cause several problems. "Some days they can play very, very well," the Germany captain was quoted as saying by Chelsea's official website on Monday. "They are a team that think very offensively. They want to score every game." "At Munich, we lost three years ago at home. They won 3-0 and they won the national title too. This was not good." Under Austrian coach Tomas Schaaf, Bremen turned one of the most dangerous sides in Europe. In last season's Champions League, they scored 12 goals in six group matches and found the net four times in the first knock-out stage against one of the finest defences in Europe, Juventus. They were also the Bundesliga's most successful attacking force, registering 79 goals, 10 more than champions Bayern Munich. Statistics, though, are not on their side all the time. Bremen's net received as many goals as they scored in the 2005-2006 Champions League. The former Bundesliga champions also conceded 38 goals in their last league campaign and Ballack knows this well. "Sometimes they give chances to the other team, they make mistakes in defence," he said. "I remember games where they lost badly because they were playing so offensively. In the Champions League they lost 7-2 at Lyon two years ago."
