Esteban Cambiasso scored twice in the first-half and dished out an assist to help Inter Milan grab a hard-fought 3-2 away victory over Fiorentina in their Serie A opener on Saturday. Zlatan Ibrahimovic strike after the break looked to have sealed a comfortable win but Luca Toni netted twice to give Fiorentina some respectability. Fiorentina will have an uphill task to survive in the Serie A campaign as they began the season with a 19-point penalty for their part in the Italian match-fixing scandal. Inter players wore black armbands in grieve for the death of the club's president Giacinto Facchetti on Monday. Cambiasso opened the score in the 10th minute when he drilled the ball home past Fiorentina goalkeeper Sebastien Frey from close-range. The Argentinean international doubled the lead four minutes before the break after he connected with Luis Figo's cross at the far post to head the ball into the back of the net.
Swedish striker Ibrahimovic ensured the victory one minute after the hour mark when he received Cambiasso's long pass inside the area with a first-timer that bounced off the ground and went into the far corner of the net. Last season's top scorer Toni pulled one back for the hosts after being set-up by Adrian Mutu seven minutes later. Italian international Toni sent a brilliant diving header that deflected off Toldo's hands and went into the net. He narrowed the gap once again in the 79th minute with another glancing header following Ferreira Reginaldo's inch-perfect cross. Earlier on Saturday, goals from Alessandro Mancini and Daniele De Rossi gave Roma a 2-0 home victory over Livorno.
